Kaitlin is a criminal defense attorney who joined the Mauzy Law Office in 2017. A Colorado native, Kaitlin attended college at the University of Nebraska where she graduated with High Distinction. At Duke University School of Law she graduated Magna Cum Laude; her law school honors include: Order of the Coif, Criminal Law and Procedure Award for the Class of 2015, Everett Endowed Summer Public Interest Fellowship, 2014, Carroll/Simon Endowed Summer Public Interest Fellowship, 2013, James S. Bidlake Award for Superior Achievement in Legal Analysis, Research and Writing, Dean’s Award in Torts. She was Articles Editor for the Duke Law Journal and authored Note, Conspiracy and the Fantasy Defense: The Strange Case of the Cannibal Cop, 64 DUKE L.J. 901 (2015). She participated in the Duke Law Innocence Project and the Duke Law Wrongful Convictions Clinic and she was Lead Editor for the Duke Forum for Law and Social Change.
Following graduation in 2015, Kaitlin clerked for the Honorable John Gerrard of the U.S District Court, District of Nebraska, and the Honorable Jane Kelly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She lives in Saint Paul with her husband Zane and their cats.
